Using AI generated mapping, Landscape Observatory is working with Dr Emma Gardener at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology to map species movements for modelling. Emma is a Research Fellow working specifically on the issue of landscape change and the consequences for biodiversity. Additionally, her studies investigate how land-use decisions can better balance the needs of people and other species.
The team working in collaboration with Emma have simulated the distribution and abundance of key species taxa at landscapes scale. This species modelling then allowed the investigation into the impacts of planned habitat creation.
