Filling the landscape-scale data gap in habitat condition monitoring
Across the UK, decisions about nature recovery and conservation are increasingly being made at the landscape scale yet a critical gap remains in implementing effective habitat monitoring at this level.
Conservation management is not only about preserving specific species, but about safeguarding the dynamic and interconnected systems that allow ecosystems to function, adapt, and thrive despite rapid environmental change. Data and monitoring strategies are needed that support understanding of the climate-driven changes to the patterns of biodiversity and the underlying ecosystem processes that sustain it.
Landscape Observatory aims to fill that gap using innovative technologies, citizen engagement and proven methods.
